It’s been a long couple of weeks. I just turned 24 and recent experience has made me painfully aware of the fact that time slows for no man. I’ve always felt it was so important to remember where you’ve been…
Where you’ve come from. I am extremely grateful to be able to say that my journey so far has come with some exceptional people, and memories. But also with those that you wish could be altered or changed. But in each moment, good or bad, I existed. Good or bad, they happened, and they have made me who I am today. These beautiful people that I’ve been fortunate enough to write music with have helped me to see just how much music can capture those moments, bottle them, sterilize them, keep them fresh. So that if ever you wish to relive them, they will be there, waiting for you. Every inside joke, every love realized and lost and every howl at the moon for help… they’ll be there.
So the short of it is, I think it’s very important to remember exactly where you’ve been… and so I wrote a song about it.
We Were Here
In the west a setting sun the east to come undone I the Sentimental son Honey you the only one This the piece you lost at sea I the paddle down the creek Spoken word spoke unto thee Fallacy, Calloused he, Takes your sleep This as right As I'll ever be So this your something for the road This your footprint in the snow Journey long Surely gone away This your cloudy for the clear Every word is you dear For when time is high to say goodbye to leave behind That we were here Love Always -Him
